POSITION SUMMARY
The Vertical Marketing Manager is responsible for driving vertical market share growth through marketing programs designed to reach end-users and influencers in specific target markets. The Vertical Marketing Manager continuously analyzes target markets and identifies market specific value based on customer needs and demands. This hands-on role spans strategic to tactical activities and coordinates heavily with sales, product management, and external audiences.
The Vertical Marketing Manager’s role is to provide laser focus on developing materials, messaging, and programs for specific markets that support the company’s overall strategy and drive toward the achievement of revenue and growth goals. Vertical Marketing Managers will possess solid business insight, extreme market curiosity, creativity/future vision, and an intense desire to fully understand and align with new and developing markets.
The Vertical Marketing Manager actively participates in monitoring and documenting market share performance and long-term strategy behind vertical market segments along with positioning, share growth plan development and forecasting. This person promotes the voice of the customer inside the business championing value proposition alignment, talking to market influencers and end-users and getting market feedback firsthand from relevant audiences.
RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS
- Research and document vertical market data, issues, hot topics, and customer trends.
- Assist in analysis of market size, conditions, share, and potential value to Dristeem.
- Become an expert on the market and define how to position for success.
- Perform market research and intelligence gathering to determine customer requirements, business opportunity, market channels, relevant associations, and strategic partners.
VERTICAL MARKET DEVELOPMENT
- Articulate market requirements, lingo, HVAC purchase methods, influencer/decision-maker personas.
- Develop, test, and implement messaging and approaches specific to each vertical market.
- Coordinate market outreach plans with the sales team including continuous feedback collection and regular update and strategy meetings.
- Document and communicate activity plans to ensure full execution across internal & external teams.
- Monitor market performance, report progress regularly to executive leadership, and make timely determinations regarding where to focus energy and resources based on results.
VERTICAL MARKET PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT
- Develop and execute plans for assigned markets that document positioning strategies, financial performance, market forecast and share growth.
- Define DriSteem product positioning, key benefits, and target customer.
- Execute vertical market strategy and champion markets within the organization from the highest levels of executive leadership to implementation teams.
- Provide sales team with tools and technical expertise to enable sales of products. Including printed and electronic promotional material, product training, & relevant technical papers.
- Work with marketing communications to develop and execute market communication plans and promotional campaigns to generate awareness and demand.
- Prepare and present market training materials for internal and external training seminars, conferences, trade shows, articles, discussion groups, and online forums.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, vendors, co-workers, and management.
- Comply with any/all company safety and health rules and policies and promotes safe work practices. Reports any safety concerns to the supervisor/manager.
- Ensure compliance with departmental guidelines and company standards.
- Supports continual compliance with ISO 9001 standards and procedures.
- Potential travel up to 30% of the time.
- Performs related work as apparent or assigned.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years of relevant business-to-business marketing, sales, or business development experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Research or Communications.
- Direct involvement with strategic evaluation to meet the needs of target markets aligning with the value of DriSteem products in their environment communicating the competitive landscape and developing compelling positioning and messaging.
- Proven ability to effectively work with sales teams and industry organizations.
